The Uplands Homeowners’ Association (UHA) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to managing and maintaining the community facilities and common areas in the Uplands neighborhood of Hawkwood, Calgary. As a Uplands resident, you are automatically a member of the UHA, which is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors committed to fostering a high quality of life for all residents.
Our Mission
The UHA’s mission is to create a welcoming, well-maintained, and safe environment for all homeowners. Through effective management, community programs, and upkeep of shared amenities, we strive to preserve the unique charm and appeal of the Uplands.
What We Do
The UHA is responsible for:
Facility Management: We manage exclusive amenities for Uplands residents, such as the clubhouse, pool, and tennis courts, offering recreational spaces that bring the community together.
Landscaping & Maintenance: The association oversees the landscaping in all common areas, ensuring the pathways are cleared of snow in the winter, grass is cut in the summer, and trees, shrub beds, and flower pots are well-maintained. This care has contributed to the Uplands’ receiving the 2010 LANTA Landscaping Award.
Architectural Guidelines: The UHA enforces architectural and development controls, ensuring that homes within the community maintain a consistent and high-quality appearance. We regularly review and update these guidelines to incorporate modern materials while preserving the neighborhood’s standards.
Social Events & Community Enagement: From seasonal celebrations to fitness classes and family activities, we promote community engagement and a strong neighborhood bond. We keep residents informed and connected through regular email newsletters detailing upcoming events and community updates.
Membership & Fees
As a homeowner in the Uplands, you are automatically a member of the UHA. The association is funded through monthly HOA fees, which go toward the upkeep of common areas and amenities, as well as the management of community services. These contributions allow us to maintain a high standard of living and protect property values.
Governance & Leadership
The UHA is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, elected annually at the general meeting. The Board oversees the long-term strategy and financial health of the association, which has successfully built a reserve fund of approximately $340,000 to ensure the continued upkeep of community assets. Day-to-day operations are managed by a Facility Manager, who supervises part-time staff and handles business matters, ensuring that the community runs smoothly and remains well-maintained for all residents.
